here are some basic moves that any b-boy should know

Top Rock

Description:

If you're a beginner, you want to get this move dorwn before you start on anything else. Toprock is not technically difficult to do and allows you to express your own style. Toprock is the thang peeps do when their on their feet, before molesting the floor. Some peeps refer to it as shufling-its not really. The point of it is to form the circle, get people's attention, and get some room to bust yer moves. There's all kinds of variations on this, but there is a proper way. You dont really need to know how to do this, but it helps to be able to go from Toprock to 6-step or flares. The main thing is that it looks good, keep with the hip-hop style, and relax. The proper Toprock is a 4 step, 4 beat dance that's pretty simple to learn. Start with your feet together standing up. Step 1: Hop forward onto your right toe.

Step 2: Skip back onto your left foot, you can add a lil hop/kick back

Step 3: Now your right foot goes behind you and to the left, your body can turn with it.

Step 4: Your left foot skips back again and you're in the starting position.

Try it out and make it look good. Add your own style and attitude. To go from this to flare, take a slightly wider step back with your left foot on either step 2 or 4. To go into 6-step, just go into step 3 (of the 6-step) wherever it feels comfortable, probably after step 4.

The Six Step

Description:

This is the basis of bboyin. Its the thing people do when they first hit the floor. It looks like yer sitting there with your legs flying around you.

Like the name says, it has six steps.

These instructions are for doing the move counter-clockwise, as are most moves.

To start, get in the position like you would to do a push up, but with your feet spread about 2 or so feet apart.

Step 1: Lift your right hand, and move your left foot where your right hand used to be.

Step 2: Move your right leg forward so your knees are close, but keep your left leg where it is.Your legs cross each other, your almost in the crab position.

Step 3: uncross your legs and now you are in the crab position.

Step 4: Swing your right leg in a WIDE arc kinda like how peeps do that coffee grinder thing Switch hands, so now you're right hand is down, left hand up. Keep your right leg swinging around.

Step 5: Your right leg swings around and wraps around your left. You have your face down and both hands on the floor. Extend your left leg first, then your right leg. This is important to making it look right.

Step 6: Now you're in the starting position, continue with step 1

That's how the 6-step is done. You'll see it often referred to in other moves such as mini flare, swipes, and other stuff.

Try Mixin it up, swich direction, add some of your own steps and it looks Phat

You will start most moves from the 6-step. All the power moves that you do on the ground (except flares) can only be started from 6-step and look good.

The Back Spin

Description:

This is for counter clock wise spinz

Start by sitting on the ground, legs spred in, or close to a 90 degree angle holding your weight on your hands.

now turn on to your left side now supporting with your left hand, with your left leg paralelle to body and your right leg bent behind your body.

Now kick your right leg forward in a circular motion past your left leg and toward your face.

when your right leg gets close to your face you roll back on to your back kicking your left leg with the motion of your roll stoping your kick when your legs get close together.

once you can do these moves try linking them together.

for example do some top rock, down to a six step, to a backspin, and end it with a funny pose.
